Freemasonry Leeds Lodge History

Freemasonry in Leeds is very popular, including our lodge. It all started when Adel Lodgreceived its Warrant or Charter on 6 February 1946 after being sponsored by the Headingley Lodge No. 2608, which had a membership of 97. Thereafter Adel Lodge was consecrated on 17 April 1946 at Castle Grove Masonic Hall on 17 April 1946. There were 18 founder members, 13 from Headingley Lodge and five from other Lodges. Nine of the founders were Installed Masters, and nine were Master Masons.

The Past Masters and Officers have always maintained the work of the Lodge to a high standard,

The Lodge prides itself in planning a variety of social events throughout the year, to which we welcome the families and friends of its members and also anyone that my be interested in joining our lodge.

Where We Meet

Adel Lodge meets at Castle Grove Masonic Hall which is hidden away in the leafy suburb of Headingley, which is a few miles north of Leeds City Centre.

This is  a beautiful Grade ll listed building with spectacular architectural features, both inside and out. Once you step in you’ll be amazed by its splendour.

Castle Grove Masonic Hall is not only home to Adel Lodge but also to 17 of the 200 Masonic Lodges in the Province of Yorkshire West Riding.

Previously a Victorian Manor House it was in private hands until 1934 until the property was purchased by four Leeds Masonic Lodges for the sum of £2,500 on 11th October 1934. It has been a Masonic Hall ever since.
